Return to Work: Creating Effective Policies
Return to Work Interactive Workshop – Get Your Injured Employees Back to Work Now – Part 1
April 23, 2008 – 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This workshop will dispel the myths about return to work programs we will answer the following questions:
- Why it is imperative that you have a written return to work policy?
- How to get everyone in your organization on board?
- How can we integrate the return to work procedure with our HR Policies?
The number one reason why injured employees manipulate the return to work process, we allow them to do it.
When treating physicians issue light duty restrictions, you must have a plan in place to bring the employee back to work – immediately.
Here’s why: 55% of employees who are off work for more than 16 weeks never return to the workforce.
REALITY – employers who do not have well defined injury management policies and procedures are never in a win-win situation.
The bad news: Savvy attorneys are waiting for you to terminate this employee, so they can drag you into Federal Court with claims of retaliatory discharge and violations of the ADA guidelines.
AGENDA
We will evaluate and provide you with guidelines developing your overall return to work policy and procedures including how to:
- Implement an effective injury notification policy.
- Manage medical treatment and select medical clinics
- Develop post accident procedures
- Design and implement a step-by-step return to work procedure
- Identify and assign a return to work coordinator
- Train your managers and supervisors
By the end of the workshop you will have the framework for an effective written return to work policy.
